Nueva Informacion!

So first and foremost I have to tell ya'll..That after months and months of wating, My Parents finally got their mission call! YAY! They are going to be serving in Richmond, Virginia at Fort Lee military base! They will be working with the soldiers there at the base. They will be leaving July 11th. WHich means Charlie and I will be out of our apartment by the end of June so we don't have to pay for Julys rent. We will be moving into their house so that we can save some money and they have someone to stay in and take care of the house. We'll only have to pay $400 a month and utilities. Which is a good deal considering how awesome the house is! We're really excited.

In other news, our sad little mouse JErby died. We think of a heart attack. My friend Terra had brought her little dogs(a teacup chihuahua and a miniature pinscher). They were exploring JErby whlie he was in his little ball. He was fine when we put him in his cage that night. The next morning, Charlie and I were in the living room and Jerby hadn't moved and Charlie said, "What if our mouse is dead?" I was all, "NO, he's just sleeping" But when Charlie went over to check he touched him and he was all rigormortis and dead. Sad Day. So we bought a new mouse and named her BUtter. She is much more fun than Jerby and she doesn't poop on you as much. She's much more active and tries her best to escape her cage every day. lol

In other OTHER news, THis week I have been going to a TESOL(Teaching ENglish as a Second ORal LAnguage) class. It's about Spanish Culture and HIstory. WEll as apart of the class we are going on a field trip to Santa Fe and stopping in all the little historic towns on the way and around it. WE will be leaving tomorrow and be back on Friday. I'm actually pretty excited about it. What I"m NOT excited about is that I will be leaving Charlie. THis will be the first time since we've been married that we'll spend a night apart. It makes me a little sad, but at least it's only one night and not like a week. I don't know how I'd handle that. But I'll take lots of pictures on my trip and post them later. Should be lots of fun!

Well thats all for now! I'll update ya'll later!!! :)

A Rodent??

So Charlie and I recently made a purchase... An animal purchase. We bought...a mouse. Yes, that's right, a mouse. A cute little black and white mouse. We named it Jerby. Jessica and Kerby. :)

I have alot of fun just holding him(or her. I'm not sure exactly how to tell the sex on a mouse) He crawls on my hands and sniffs alot. Charlie has ALOT of fun playing with him. He'll hold him and talk to him saying things like, "Hey Jerby, hey buddy. I'm your Papa. What are you doing, huh?" Things like that. We also bought Jerby a little ball that he likes to run around in. At first he didn't know what to do, but now he's always running around all over the apartment. It's so cute. NO matter what anyone says, I like having a mouse as a pet. :)

Omgosh, Really?!

Omgosh. Really? Has it really been 7 months since I've written? Yes, yes it has. Well alot ALOT has happened since then. Omgosh, i just got butterflies in my tummy thinking about all the awesomeness that has transpired since then. I wrote a post talking about my getting a job as a Kindergarten teacher in Shiprock. Well I started October 25th and have been working my tail off ever since. But I think the news that I'm most excited about is that I am now MARRIED! lol

I'm married to my best friend Charles Thomas Kerby. He was my best friend and we hung out all the time. Well around Thanksgiving time we started acting on our feelings. Our first date was the Friday before Thanksgiving. Things flew by after that. We said I love you a week later. By Christmas I was engaged.(greatest Christmas present EVER) and we were married for Time and all eternity in the Albuquerque temple on March 18th 2011.

I am LOVING being married. It truly is all that I dreamed it would be. We still have so much fun together and laugh. I love him so much, that sometimes I will be looking at him and I am overwhelmed with emotion. I cannot tell him enough that I love him. :)

I need to to a post of our love that is all it's own. It's such an awesome story and really does need to be immortalized into a blog. I'll try to keep up with my blog more to keep in touch with my non-facebook friends ;) More posts to come later! Nice to see ya'll again! :)

Brown and White-UNITE!

SO this past weekend my Bestie Terra was in town and she decided that I needed to go to the Shiprock Fair and try some Mutton. So we did. In Shiprock we went to one of our friends houses where they had a food tent set up where they sold Mutton and other such Navajo Delicacies. Well I ordered the Mutton. I was nervous to try it because I've been told it's not that good, that its gross. But I had to try it for myself and see what it was like. I have to tell you, it's not that bad. I kinda liked it. Sure it was kinda tough and chewy, but the basic taste was pretty good.

Then we went on into SHiprock where all the booths were. Let me tell you it was soo dirty. There was so much trash on the road from the Parade that morning, it looked like a 3rd world country. And Man was it dusty! But the booths with the Jewelry were amazing! The pieces that some Natives make are gorgeous, but also gorgeously expensive. I'll stick to my dainty, small Turquoise thank you very much.
All in all it was quite a good experience and I'm glad I had it, but I'll probs never go again. That's just the truth. lol

It's Official!

So it's been a while since I posted, so here's whats been going down. I am currently a long-term Substitute for a 2nd grade class at Mesa Verde Elementary for a teacher who is on maternity leave. I started August 30th and was supposed to stay till October 25th. But things change. Last week I get a call from an elementary in Shiprock and the prinicipal wants me to come for an interview. I get a substitute for my class(I know right?, a sub for the sub! Awesome) well I go to Shiprock and the school is soo stinking cute! IT has the best feeling and such a homey feel to it. The interview went great and at the end, the principal says to me,"I want you here. I'm going to do all I can to get you hired on" I was flabbergasted. They told me I did really well and that I would be a great addition to the School Staff. She gives me a tour of the school and shows me a room and some other kindergarten classrooms. This school is really nice actually. There are computers in the classroom and so much space! I love it! Also since this is the schools 1st year having Kindergarteners I'm going to have about 18 students with an EA(Education Assistant) to help me! If you're not familiar with the teaching world, that number of students is amazing! Most classrooms have a minimum of 22 these days, and many times much much more. Everything the prinicipal told me about the school and how things worked, I loved! At the end she told me that I had a gift and that she was really excited about having me on the team. Awesome day!

The next day she called me and offered me the job! But then she told me that they wanted me to start September 30th. I was like, "In two days?" I told her I couldn't do that because I had already committed to being a sub and the teacher didn't get back till the 25th(I was upfront about this the whole time. They knew I was being a sub, so it wasn't like I sprang it on them) I said I'd have to talk to the prinicipal and teacher and see if I could find a sub for the last 3 weeks. Well I was super stressed trying to find a sub for 3 weeks. Every sub I called was either booked or had appointments. It was killing me that I couldn't officially accept the teaching job because I couldn't find a sub. Needless to say I was praying hard for an answer. Well this morning I got it. The Prinicipal from the Shiprock school called and left me a voicemail telling me that the other kindergarten teacher wasn't leaving till the 22nd and she'd been thinking about it and she said that, that could just be my starting day. That she understood my committement and that I didn't want to confuse the kids or leave the school in a lurch! Everything that I'd been worried about! SO I called her back and officially accepted the job! So you're looking at the new Kindergarten teacher for Mesa Elementary in Shiprock, New Mexico! The prinicipal told me as soon as I signed all the paperwork and was done with that, then she would allocate me some money so I could go shopping for my classroom! OH. MY. GOSH! This job was meant to be and I"m sooo excited! PLUS! since Mesa Elementary is a low economic status school, a big percentage of my loans will be paid off thanks to New Mexico Student Loans! COuld this day get any better? I submit that it canNOT! Oh happiness!

The C Word

I hate the C word. Cancer. It’s such an ugly word. I looked up the definition and it says cancer is a malignant and invasive growth or tumor, esp. one originating in epithelium(a tissue composed of cells that line the cavities and surfaces of structures throughout the body.), tending to recur after excision and to metastasize(spread from one part of the body to another.) to other sites. Another definition that I find fitting is any evil condition or thing that spreads destructively. When someone gets cancer people try and say things to make you feel better like, “Oh they caught it early” or “It’s just a small cancer” or other such things. Like that will make up for the horrible feeling of knowing someone you love has a growth that is KILLING THEM! Even if you do catch it early it doesn’t change the fact that in some small way it is injuring the person and could be fatal if left untreated! Who cares if it’s just a small cancerous tumor? The fact is that it is STILL cancerous. If that’s not cause for being upset than I don’t know what is.
When someone you love gets any form of cancer it feels like a cannon ball to the stomach that wasn’t generous enough to kill you. Just maim you and leave you with recurring pain. Even when you are reassured by doctors, family, friends etc that everything will be ok, deep down in the back of your mind you wonder if it really will be ok. There’s always that chance that it won’t and your whole life will be changed forever. You picture how your life would be without that person and it makes you sick. You worry about all the things you’ve said and done and how it affected them. You want to do something but you don’t know what. You feel helpless. You want to be strong for them and show them that you are there for them and they can count on you. There are so many things that you want to do and say, but you can’t.

I'm such a Lame-O!

So I was looking at my blog and I realized I haven't blogged since MAy! What the Crap Jessica?! I'd like to say I've been really busy, but honestly not that busy. I've been really stressed, does that count? As most of you know I graduated in December, but since then not much has happened. I haven't been living up to my "potential". Jobs are scarce and according to my parents I haven't been trying hard enough. Maybe I haven't, but in all honesty, I'm kinda scared. But now it's down to the wire and I really need a job. Farmington schools are on a hiring freeze and others around San Juan County are scarce. I might have to be a full time substitute, but that doesn't have benefits which I need. Gosh soo many factors of stress in my life! It's agonizing! ARG!

But enough with the heavy stuff.

In other news, I'm a GinGER!!!! (that means I'm a redhead!)
Me and My Bestie Terra! We love us some Tie Dye!!!
Me and one of my best Guy friends Charlie Kerby(I call him Kerby) You might recognize my glasses and I have to tell you...they are now prescription! HOLLA!
Thanks for listening to my blathering rants! Loves y'all!

Branson, MIssouri!

So for Spring Break, my Parents and I went to Branson, MIssouri where they have some sort of timeshare( I don't really understand, but all I know is that we had a cute little cottage to stay in)Branson is sorta like a mini-Nashville. There are lots of shows and music to see. I was mainly excited to go to get away from work for a week(Gasp! I don't love to work? WHAT?) Well I had a flippin awesome time! I loved spending time with my parents, because when I work, I get really busy and rarely see them. It was just the 3 of us for the first couple days. Then on Wednesday, my sister Tonya who lives in Manhattan Kansas drove out to meet us. Then on Thursday my other sister Nancy and her 2 boys Andrew,9 and Adam, 7 came to meet us as well. Her husband and daughter Aubrey had to stay in Des Moines, Iowa because Aubrey had a school project. We sure missed them. But it was nice to see the family that lives further away and we don't get to see as much.

We had so much fun going to see shows and going to fun restaurants. We went to a restaurant where they throw the rolls at you and you have to catch them! I also discovered this little diner where the servers sing. They have a Karaoke machine and just walk around singing while taking orders and serving food and stuff. LOVED IT!(Secretly I wish I could work there. If they had a place like that in Farmington!)

We also went to this little country amusement park called, Silver Dollar City which was so much fun. WHile going to all the shows and attractions in Branson, I had more fun just being with my family. SOme nights we just stayed in and ate dinner at the cottage and watched movies. I love my family andI'm so glad I got to catch up with them!

At the Worlds Largest Toy Museum with all the BARBIES!

Being Raptors at this really cool Miniature Golf with my sisters Nancy and Tonya

1) I graduated from College. Bachelors of Arts in Elementary Education

2) I moved home to Farmington to be with my family (and I hated Deming)

3) I was a bum with no job for like a month

4) I got a job as a Floater Teacher(gives other teachers breaks) at the Hospital Daycare

5)I received callings in my Singles Ward (Ward Chorister and Relief Society Teacher

6) And most recently (Last night) I dyed my hair red. Like Dark red, it's real subtle and doesn't really show up in pictures.

Thats all I can think of right now, so adios my blogfriends!

A return to my Blog

I know it's been a while since I blogged, but lots of stuff has happened. I graduated college. That in and of itself is a HUGE thing! Holla! I moved home to Farmington so that I could be closer to my family and friends and maybe find a job. Well I'm not able to find a job or even apply for a teaching job till I have my degree, which won't be sent to me till February. So I was mooching off my parents and babysitting alot to get by. But now, I found a job. I got a job working at the hospital daycare. I've worked there before so I know alot of the people there and I've always loved working with kids. It's just a temporary job till I find a real teaching job which probably won't be till August. But it totally works for me.

I love being home with my Family and Friends. I believe I'm supposed to be in Farmington. I feel at home here. Alot of people might disagree with me, but I love it here.

Graduation!

On December 11th I will be graduating from Western New Mexico University with my Bachelors in Elementary Education. I can't believe that after 6 years I am finally going to graduate from college! Finally! But now that the time has come it is extremely scary and overwhelming! My life is coming to a crossroads and I'm not sure which road to take. I always sorta thought that I would stay in Deming and start working on my Masters, but things have happened and situations changed and now I really really don't want to stay in Deming. I feel like there is nothing here for me. I have no real friends. I am a social person and I have NO social life here. Maybe if things had gone differently, I would be fine staying here, but I don't want to be here and be reminded.

Also in other news, I am going to be 25 in 8 days! OMGOSH! I cannot believe that I am that old. I know to some, it is not old, but to me it is! It's a quarter of a Century! Geez! But even with all that is going on in my life, I know that I can do it and my Heavenly Father is with me!

Here are some of my Graduation Pictures(taken by the amazing Britney Keeler)

Finally

So alot has changed for me. I finally found my laugh again...it's been a while. My last post was sad, but I am over that whole situation and am totally better off. He turned out to be one of the biggest jerks I have ever met, even if he was cute! The hurt is still there in my heart and it probably will be for a while, but at least I don't cry over him anymore; he doesn't deserve it anyways. I think the hurt will be here for a while, but at least I'm on the path to healing. I'm starting to feel like myself again. I started laughing easily yesterday and it was such a relief. I didn't think I'd ever get over it. But I FINALLY realized I'm worth more that pining and mourning over someone who is a total jerk and doesn't deserve me!
In the words of Marilyn Monroe, "If you can't handle me at my worst, you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best" Holla!

Life is not the way I planned

My LIfe is not going the way I planned, but I guess I shouldn't have expected it too. The whole dating thing has not gone the way I wanted, or even not wanted..it's been soo much worse. It consumes me and I really shouldn't let it. It's ridiculous that I can let someone have this much control over me, when he doesn't even care anything about me. He says the meanest things sometimes and yet, here I am still holding on. With the help of my friends, I've decided to delete him from my phone..to try and distance myself. We'll see how that goes. I just wish there was a delete button on my heart...

Last Days and Tragedy

I haven't blogged in a while and I'm sorry about that. I've been busy. I am back down in Deming to finish up with my schooling. I have 15 more credits to take and I will(0r hope to) be graduating from Western New Mexico University this December. FINALLY!

So Get ready for this story, because it's a long one

I got my car all packed up and ready so that I could leave on Sunday the 16th because I had class in Deming on the 17th. Well I get about an hour and a half outside of Farmington, exactly 9 miles from the Apache Nuggest Casion(the tee pee Casino) I know this because I was right next to the billboard. Anyways, my car starts making a funny noise and won't go when I put on the gas. I pull over and the Check Engine and the Oil light come on. I pop the hood and there is smoke coming out of the dipstick part and by the engine(not a lot, but still, smoke?) I checked the oil dipstick and I had NO oil. I was leaking it on the side of the road. I call my Dad told him what was up and he being the amazing Father that he is, came and got me. So I had to sit by myself in my car on the side of the road(flippin hot btw) for an hour and a half while he drove to get me. It was pretty much ok since I had TWilight on my ipod. And if you're wondering, No. nobody stopped to help me. sad day. Well my Dad got there and told me I had a hole in my Oil Pan(idk how it got there) and he tied a tow strap to my car and towed me home to Farmington. FOr those of you who have been towed, you know this, but for those of you who don't, being towed is difficult. I had to stay in my car and steer and push on the brakes so I didn't hit the truck. It was a long trip back, but I did well. I get home in time for Family Dinner(woo hoo) My Dad talks to my sister Julia and asks if I can use her car while he fixes mine so he doens't have to be working late into the night. She says that's fine(I totally love her! She is the best) so we unload my car and put all my stuff into hers(which it fits much better. I can actually see out the rearview mirror) --

sidenote: I truly am lucky to have the family that I have. I have a wonderful father that drops everything and comes and rescues me an HOUR AND A HALF away. I have a super sister who is willing to carpool and let me use her car so I can go to school. I am baffled at my good fortune with my family.

--So I drive down to Deming with the knowledge that my dad is going to fix my car and we will trade cars in Albuquerque sometime next week. It was a long journey, partly because Julias cruise control does not work and her Air Conditioner is seriously lacking. But i made it in one piece and unloaded everything AND made it to class. It was a good day....but it wasn't going to last long. On Tuesday evening while I was watching my newly purchased, "The Hannah Montana Movie" I receive a phone call from my Papa informing me that my dear dear friend aka my Car had died. He was working on it and the engine blew. It's unfixable and trying to fix it would cost more than the car is worth. Oh course I started to cry. That car has been in the family for 23 yrs. I got it from my Grandma when she died. It had sentimental value and so many good memories. I truly feel like a friend died. Also to add, I am totally not in a position to purchase a new car. My parents were willing to support me if I wanted to buy a new car and take over payments when I can. But I chose the other option of having them buy a car that was more in my price range of $2000-3000. As of yet, I am still looking and so is my Dad. We may have found one, but you never know. Once I know, YOU will know. But let's have a moment of silence for my poor deceased "grandma" car. You will be missed Phoebe :(

Backyard Campout

I realized the other day that I haven't been camping with my friends this summer, so I decided to have a backyard campout with my girls last night. It was soo flippin fuN! We had a blast being silly and roasting hot dogs and making smores and just having girl talk. My friend Casey and I were the only ones that slept in the tent. My other 3 friends couldn't stay the night, but we still had fun!

All by Myself

So on MOnday I accomplished a huge feat! I rotated the tires on my car!..all by myself!...WITHOUT my Dad. He wasn't even in town! HOw awesome is that?! I was so proud of myself. But I was also super dirty. Tires are greasy and dirty...also, it was hot so I was sweaty. So I jumped into our pool afterwards. All in all it was a productive day! YAY!

Update...sorta

So..lately I've been in a weird mood. Like the kinda mood where I laugh and think stupid things are funny. I mean, it's not a bad thing, cuz I like to laugh. My mom just thinks I'm a weirdy, but is she really wrong? I don't think so. I just tried to write a blog post and my computer erased it or something and now I have no idea what I just wrote, I only know that it was funny and made me laugh. (Yes I crack myself up)

My mom just bought one of those back yard pools and I am so excited. My plan is to lay in the grass and get super hot and then take a flying leap into the pool, which can be abbreviated into a Fleap! Also, yesterday was a pretty good day because I did not have to mow my lawn thanks to my powers of persuasion. Can life get any better? I submit that it cannot! I was talking to my friend Ben and I might have mentioned that I have to go mow the lawn and I hate it and he totally offered to do it!! Awesome? totally! I even got pictures to document this spectacular event. Aren't you so proud? Wouldn't be the first time I got someone to mow the lawn for me. Thats just how amazing my persuasion skills are. Maybe I should use them for something else? Chinese food? Carebears? The possibilities are endless

In other news, I still don't have a freakin job, and while that sounds like an awesome summer plan, it has its downs. Like the whole not having any money thing. The whole sleeping in and staying in my pajamas is nice, but doing nothing all the time is exhausting. So my dad told me he would pay me to wash the Sheriffs Department Helicopters. Nice, except everytime I do I slip and fall like a baby giraffe on the helipad. (that sheriffs star is super slippery) Also, as a new low in my life, I am a backup Janitor for my brother in laws brother. LIke when people realize they are janitors and try to go do something with their life and call in to work, I get called in to clean up the mess...literally. But hey, money is money and I need to pay my cell phone bill and buy some more itunes and another hole in my head, cuz that's how much I need the itunes.

Oh but the other weekend, I went camping with my Mom and Dad and then met the Institute the next morning in Durango to go on a rafting trip! Good times were had that weekend.

sooo That's all I can think of right now. I must get back to my pathetic existence of life
of doing nothing.
